It’s another beautiful day in the neighborhood. Rain and
thunderstorms are forecast for later, but right now, it’s shaping up to be
picture perfect. The internet boys are supposed to come out and raise the
antenna, but we know how that works. It also may rain hundred-dollar bills from
the sky.
Here's a big ol' bear captured by the web cam Sunday morning at 7:10 AM. |
We left around 9 AM on Sunday for Marquette. There was
little traffic and we made good time. The first stop was to purchase a large rawhide
dog bone for Brutus. The last one lasted for almost two months, so in the long
run, it’s worth the money to have him chew a three-foot long dried piece of
bovine skin than our house.
There was a tall ship festival and we enjoyed looking at a couple of the masted vessels in the harbor.
A stop at the mall allowed Sargie to pick up some needed
things for the house. While she and Mom shopped, I meandered around the
sporting goods store and ended up purchasing some flies and poppers. No
bluegill will be safe now.
We made it to an athletic field by Northern Michigan
University in time to see the junior high-age soccer team that Macrea coaches
finish their season with an overtime/penalty kick loss. No one seemed too
upset. In fact, one of the players produced some water balloons and the kids
had a good time chasing their coach around the field.
All of us enjoyed pizza at a small restaurant in downtown
Marquette where we ate and talked for well over an hour. Mel’s sister and her
boyfriend were visiting and they are wonderful kids. Mitchell’s a physical
therapy major and Megan is contemplating going into accounting forensics. Both
are students at Eastern Michigan University. Mel’s finishing her degree in
hospitality management this year and of course, Macrea just graduated with his
bachelors degree this past spring and is the manager of a local branch of Wells
Fargo Bank. We were hanging out with a pretty educated bunch of munchkins on
Sunday.
Later, for desert, we enjoyed huge ice cream cones at
Presque Isle Park along the shores of Lake Superior and soon told all goodbye.
Sargie navigated the large loop that features many long distance views of the
lake and we were soon driving home.

There are a million little projects that I either need to
finish, complete, or work on today. None are earth-changing events. Of course,
if the internet people actually show up, I’ll be watching them. After all, a
man’s work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road…
Believe me, ain't nobody gonna mess with Grandma! |
I love how he is like "Bring it" in this picture. Your mom is the safest person on earth with Brutus guarding her.
